Come and visit, Iligan City, the City of Majestic Waterfalls

This is the first place that most visitors will see when visiting Iligan City. I kinda remember my first time I visited Maria Cristina was way back in 1987 (I was just seven years old at that time) and still I could remember the beauty of the flowing water from the edge. To share some details about her, just continue to read the following:The most popular landmark in Iligan City, Maria Cristina Falls is the city’s most visited place as it displays her beauty and grandeur to the public. I first visited Maria Cristina back in 1987 when I was seven years old and I still could remember her beauty. At present, a Nature’s Park is now open to the public as a Rafting Adventure and a wall climbing activity is also introduced to the visitors.Sometimes called “The Twin Falls”, Maria Cristina Falls is the famous landmark of the City of Iligan. The City of Majestic Waterfalls is the home of more than 20 falls in and around the city. Located 9.3 kilometers away southwest of the city proper, the famous waterfall is just a 15 – 20 minutes jeep ride. The name “Twin Falls” was referred to the flow of the water as it is separated by a rock on the edge of the waterfall. This 320 feet (98 meters) high waterfall is known for its grandeur and natural beauty and is also the primary source of electric power in the city. The name Maria Cristina has her legend from the two sisters, namely Maria and Cristina (obviously) who both fell in love with the same unnamed prince. The prince also loved the two sisters but has difficulty in who he would choose among the two. It was a story of an unselfish love that Maria jumped to the falls to give way for her sister Cristina and the prince. But when Cristina learned what Maria had done, she too also jumped from the falls. The prince, unhappy of the incident, buried the two sisters under the falls and named it Maria Cristina. Legends also state that the prince was never married until he died because of his love to the two sisters. -From iligan.gov.ph
